The use of contrasting textures is important in my work with stone, both as a record of the journey taken as well as clearly indicating that this work is not the result of some machine made object. The hand of the artist is thereby clearly evident.

The Journey: In the beginning things did not start all that auspiciously when a sizable chunk of origional stone fell off very unexpectedly. Note for all OHS Freaks- I was wearing steel capped boots at the time this happened, but put on Crocs when taking the picture

After a rethink of where we were going on this journey, the redesigned work started taking shape - Note the small drill hole on the left which is the beginning of the excavation of the large holes through the work.
